Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies have become increasingly important in recent years and are changing many areas of the digital world. But what about security? Blockchain technology makes it possible to store data in a decentralized, transparent and tamper-proof network. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum use this technology to enable secure and anonymous transactions. The fascination with blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies is omnipresent. It is therefore important to shed light on these technologies from a security perspective. Moderator Henrike Tönnes will be supported by Dr. Clara Schneidewind from the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy. Together, they will explore new research approaches for the secure, resource-saving and privacy-friendly use of blockchain technologies.
