The promising Bochum-based company celebrates an important milestone in its company history: RIPS Technologies was sold to SonarSource, the provider behind the products “SonarQube”, “SonarCloud” and “SonarLint”. The two companies are thus joining forces to usher in a new era of SAST solutions.
What began 10 years ago as an open source project is now a state-of-the-art security solution that stands out from traditional SAST products. Dr. Johannes Dahse founded RIPS 2016 at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security of the Ruhr University Bochum.

RIPS Technologies has been part of the portfolio of the venture capital investor eCAPITAL for a few years. For the sole investor in RIPS, this means a very successful exit, with an IRR of 63% after just 2.5 years since the first investment in the company. The Münster-based venture capitalist focuses on technology companies in the fields of software & IT, IT security, industry 4.0, new materials and cleantech.
